Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Ponte Vedra Eye Associates the leading provider of vision care products and services in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Karen S. Wolf, O.D.

Dr. Wolf received her Bachelor of Science from Franklin & Marshall College. She spent the next two years working in vision research at SUNY College of Optometry, in New York City. Dr. Wolf then attended and received her doctorate degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.

After attending a one year residency program at the Jacksonville Eye Center. she opened a private practice in Ponte Vedra Beach, where she currently practices full time.

In 1999, Dr. Wolf became the State Administrator in Florida for VisionSource, a national network of leading Optometrists. She has also served as a Medical Director for Vision Care Inc., and has served on the Board of Directors for the Ponte Vedra Chamber of Commerce, First Coast Laser Network, and Prevent Blindness Florida.

Dr. Wolf is a member of the Florida Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. She has been a Legislative Committee member for the Florida Optometric Association, and also has served as a member of the Managed Care Committee and as Chairman for their Industry Relations Committee. She has served on the Income Committee for the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Wolf has been awarded the Brookshire Psychology Award for Outstanding Clinical Research, and has also received the Vistakon Award for Clinical Excellence. She also received the Visionary Award by Prevent Blindness, for her extraordinary commitment to saving sight in Florida. In 1998 she was named “Florida’s Optometrist of the Year”, by the Florida Optometric Association. She was the first woman to receive this prestigious award in the history of the association.

More recently, Dr Wolf has been involved with fundraising for the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, helping bring holiday gifts to over 350 children. After a very inspirational visit to Miramar Marine Air Station in 2009, Dr Wolf returned home and joined forces with the Greater Jacksonville USO, providing support to our troops. She was the Event Chair of Palencia’s “Dancing in the Streets – Military Style”, which raised over $30,000 for the USO. “It is an honor to give back to our troops. I am grateful to them for giving us the freedom we enjoy everyday!”

Gil Houston, O.D.

Dr Houston received his Bachelor of Science in 1976. He then attended the University of Rhode Island and received his Master of Science. In 1982 Dr. Houston received his Doctor of Optometry, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors from the New England College of Optometry.

Dr. Houston worked at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, AL and also was on staff at the College of Optometry at the University of Alabama until 1993. He then relocated to Ponte Vedra and joined the practice where he now works full time.

Dr. Houston has published articles in the Southern Journal of Optometry, Academy of Optometry Journal, American Optometric Association Journal, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Dr. Houston is a volunteer optometrist at the Sulzbacher Homeless Healthcare Center. He has also served as a Board Member for the Northeast Florida Optometric Association. He is a member of the Florida Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Susan Rost Monahan, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Monahan is a western Pennsylvania native who spent several years in New England before making her way to north Florida. Her Bachelor of Science degree was awarded by Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in 1993, followed by a doctorate degree from the New England College of Optometry in 1998. Dr. Monahan completed an ocular disease residency in Kittery, Maine in 1999.

After completion of her training, Dr. Monahan was an Assistant Professor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry for seven years. She was a clinical instructor and lecturer in geriatrics and low vision, and took students out into the community to provide specialized eye care for the homebound and the homeless. She worked concurrently as an associate primary care optometrist at a suburban private practice, NewtonEye, during that time.

In 2008, Dr. Monahan, her husband, and their two daughters, relocated to Ponte Vedra Beach. Since moving to Ponte Vedra, Dr. Monahan has been actively involved as a volunteer and recent event co-chair for Community PedsCare, a pediatric hospice program in Jacksonville. She has also had multiple leadership roles within her children’s school parent association.

Dr. Monahan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, as well as a member of the Florida Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She began working as an associate at Ponte Vedra Eye Associates in November 2012.

Alison Webb, O.D.

Dr. Alison Webb earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Biology from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida in 2005. In 2009, Dr. Webb received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, graduating with honors. Dr. Webb completed valuable externships, including one with a specialty pediatric and primary care practice in Wichita, Kansas and another with W.G. Bill Hefner Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina specializing in ocular disease and geriatrics. In 2010, Dr. Webb completed an intensive hospital-based ocular disease residency at the Louis B. Stokes Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She managed the treatment of patients with complicated or advanced glaucoma, as well as other ocular diseases. Dr. Webb completed advanced clinical rotations in contact lenses, pediatrics and binocular vision, low vision and geriatrics. She has also served as adjunct faculty at Ohio State University.

Dr. Webb is a licensed optometrist in Florida and Ohio. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, and a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honorary. Dr. Webb recently relocated to Ponte Vedra Beach and joined Ponte Vedra Eye Associates in November of 2016.

Matthew Sutton, O.D.

Dr. Sutton graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors in Business Administration and a Minor in Economics with additional pre-medical studies. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia in 2015 where he earned Clinical Honors in all of his rotations. His training includes extensive clinical experience at William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC; Mittleman Eye Center in West Palm Beach, FL; EnVision Eyecare in Savannah, GA; Quinn Eye Center in Gainesville, FL and The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Locally, Dr. Sutton has worked in conjunction with a number of optometrists and ophthalmologists, and is now very excited to be serving the beaches community. He is a member of the Northeast Florida Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. Dr. Sutton’s specialties include ocular disease, dry eye and specialty contact lens fittings. He is a welcome addition to our practice.

In his spare time, Dr. Sutton enjoys traveling, reading, sports and spending time with his daughter, family and friends. Please help us welcome Dr. Sutton to the Ponte Vedra Eye Associates eye care team!

Marcy Dragotta, Optometric Technician

Marcy has been a part of our practice for over 10 years. She is our head Ophthalmic Technician. She is trained in pre-testing, contact lenses, visual fields, ocular photography, glaucoma testing, and much more. She works hard to ensure our patients experience outstanding customer service in our practice, and is a graduate of the Ritz Carlton “Legendary Customer Service” program. We are proud to have her on our team. She is an asset to our practice.

Melissa Weeks, Licensed Optician, Frame Stylist

We welcomed Melissa to our practice in 2007. She is a licensed optician of 15 years, certified by the American Board of Opticianry. She brings expertise to all areas of the optical department and is extremely knowledgable. Melissa is also “Customer Service” focused, also a graduate of the Ritz “Legendary Customer Service” program. She will do all she can to help you find the right frame and customize your lens selection to fit your needs and lifestyle. We promise it will be a fun and enjoyable experience!
